The Rother hiking guide to the Azores is the standard work for hiking in the Azores. Published in German (2025), English (2025) and French (2026), it currently has 105 entries. Touren (8th edition 2025 DE) is the most comprehensive work and at the same time the most toured book in the entire publishing series.
The hiking guide contains detailed information on a variety of hiking trails on the different islands of the Azores: São Miguel, Santa Maria, Terceira, Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa, Flores and CorvoEach hiking trail is described in detail, including information on the difficulty level, trail conditions, duration, and altitude. The guidebook is equipped with detailed maps and photos to help readers orient themselves and plan their hikes. The maps show the routes as well as prominent landmarks and points of interest along the way. In addition to the hike descriptions, the guidebook also contains useful information on topics such as getting there, accommodation options, food, equipment, and safety advice for hiking in the Azores. Many sections of the route partially follow the official Turismo-TourIn some places, they were combined or extended to form longer hikes. Where possible and practical, hikes were designed as circular routes.
